OU Physicians has recognized Oklahoma City defense attorney Robert H. Mitchell for more than 40 years of outstanding service to the University of Oklahoma’s health care providers and physicians.

Mitchell is the first recipient of the OU Physicians Professional Liability Defense Panel Outstanding Service Award, presented at the OU Physicians Professional Liability Panel annual seminar held recently at the Skirvin Hilton hotel in downtown Oklahoma City.

Mitchell is “of counsel” at Oklahoma City-based law firm Sweet Law, known for successfully helping health care professionals navigate medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts for more than four decades.

Experience includes general counsel for The University Hospital and Clinics, state trial counsel for the Oklahoma Attorney General, general counsel during the Governor David Boren administration and chairman of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board for Governor George Nigh.

Mitchell attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a degree in business management. After serving two years overseas as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, he returned to Oklahoma to attend the OU College of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor of Law degree.

With more than 850 physicians statewide, OU Physicians is Oklahoma’s largest physician group and encompasses almost every adult and child specialty.
