Attorney Kyle Sweet of Sweet Law Firm announced today the addition of three new partners at the firm, Oklahoma City-based Vanessa A. Hicks and Curt Dewberry, and Tulsa-based W. Joseph Pickard, who will manage the new Tulsa/Eastern Oklahoma practice. The Tulsa office will allow the firm to continue to expand client services at a cost savings. In addition to having fully-staffed offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the firm will also harness technology to bring to bear the attorney and support functions of its national practice.

“Our growth in Tulsa offers us the opportunity to expand our firm’s practice, while remaining a boutique firm representing specialty lines of insurance with managing lawyers and support staff meeting the needs of Sweet Law clients throughout the United States,” said Kyle Sweet, principal Sweet Law. “Adding a trial lawyer of Joe’s skill and experience will allow us to significantly increase the level of our already growing client base in Eastern Oklahoma, while expanding and building on our focus on the defense of multiple lines of insurance.”

W. Joseph Pickard served as a prosecutor for the Tulsa County District Attorney’s office before leaving to join a private practice in 2004. As a prosecutor he tried numerous felony cases in State Court.
His work focuses in area of general liability, products liability, premises liability, professional liability, environmental law, and auto negligence. Pickard is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Oklahoma. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Pickard is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He’s skilled in Civil Defense Litigation.

Vanessa A. Hicks has represented hundreds of health care professionals in medical malpractice cases and in state board actions across the State of Oklahoma. Hicks has been instrumental in leading the coordination of the firm’s national cases, supervising attorneys in mass torts throughout the United States. She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and is also licensed to practice in the Western District of Oklahoma and the Eastern District of Oklahoma. She is a member of DRI and the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel.

Curt Dewberry has represented hundreds of healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases in state and federal courts. Dewberry has distinguished himself as a top notch litigator, achieving outstanding results in the courtroom for the firm’s clients. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, College of Law, a member of the DRI and in 2010 was designated as a Rising Star in Oklahoma by Super Lawyers. He proudly served seven years in the United States Marine Corps where he rose to the rank of Captain. During that time his work focused on the Law of War, Operational Law, Rules of Engagement and prosecuting Courts Martial.
